THDA 303 - Dance Composition Semester Hours: Three This course will focus on the basic principles of composition, components of choreography necessary to create a choreographic work, and the exploration of the various sources used to inspire choreography. Students will explore how their bodies move in a kinesphere and scenic space and how these principles of body and space are directly affected by time, create choreographic phrases both individually and in groups, and study notable works of choreographers. The course will culminate in a piece of choreography with a written component. Term Offered: Spring, Odd Years
Prerequisites: THEA 131 - Ballet I and THEA 141 - Jazz I
