EDPE 433/533 - Curriculum, Theory, and Methods of Physical Education in the Elementary School: Seminar and Field Experience Semester Hours: Three This course includes methods and theories of curriculum development at the elementary school level. Course content will include the study of skill analysis and techniques of teaching developmental games, educational gymnastics, and perceptual-motor activities. Emphasis will be given to biomechanical analysis of movement, application of motor learning concepts, and design and preparation of appropriate instructional experience and materials. On-site experiences in a local elementary school, which include a minimum of five (5) clock hours of observation, participation, and teaching, will be an integral part of the course. Attention to growth and development and understanding of the many diverse student needs found at the elementary level are included. Students will become competent in applying assessment strategies for the improvement of student learning. Students taking this course for graduate credit must complete all graduate course requirements. Term Offered: Fall, Odd Years
Prerequisites: EDUC 201, 203, and 303; EXSC 343 and 363; and PHED 263.
