CHEM 573 - Advanced Methods in Chemistry Education
Semester Hours: Three
This course approaches chemistry education methodology through historic, contemporary, and future perspectives. Students will examine the historic educational ideologies, systems, and experiences that influenced the development of their personal chemistry padagogy. Personal Pedagogies will then be analyzed considering the needs of present-day chemistry learners and institutional expectations. After formulating an understanding of their current position in chemistry education, students will engage with educational research and teaching strategies to create tangible, proactive plans to achieve more effective chemistry education now and in the future.
