COUN 5163 - Counseling Skills & Techniques Semester Hours: Three This course provides new counselor education students with an introduction to basic counseling techniques and skills. Topics addressed during this course include attending behavior, core conditions of counseling, counseling microskills, and other necessary skills needed in conducting a counseling session. Note: This course cannot be taken as a directed study or credit for prior learning portfolio. Students seeking counselor licensure may not take this as a web-based course. Term Offered: Spring
Prerequisites(s): Prerequisites for School Counseling (Traditional and Licensure tracks): COUN 5113 , COUN 5123 . Prerequisites for CMHC: COUN 5103 , COUN 5113 .
