PLTH 5541 - Trauma Focused Play Therapy Semester Hours: One The purpose of this special topics course is to provide students with an introduction to trauma focused play therapy and its application in the playroom when working with children that have experienced trauma. Students will develop an understanding of the neuroscience behind trauma, the impacts of trauma on child development, the play behaviors of traumatized children in the playroom, and application of theories and techniques of trauma focused play therapy. This course is in compliance with the Association for Play Therapy training standards. Students will receive 22.5 hours towards their 150 hours of training required for Registered Play Therapist credentials. Term Offered: Spring
