*International Students whose primary language is not English should take COMM 123 Public Speaking and Diction instead of COMM 103 .
‡ All students who have not satisfied the general education and degree requirements in English are required to take the appropriate English course their first semester as a full-time student at Missouri Baptist University, and to pursue the sequence, without interruption, until the English requirement has been satisfied. Regular students who are not full-time must follow this procedure by the time they have earned 12 semester hours of college credit. Students may not withdraw from any English course in the sequence; they must take these courses for a letter grade of A, B, C, D, or F.

Bachelor of Music Education
The general education program is complemented by specific requirements for each of the seven baccalaureate degree programs. The student must complete all requirements for the degree plan selected before graduation. The completion of the general education requirements and the degree requirements comprise a cohesive liberal arts basis, preparing students for study in professional subject disciplines.
The Bachelor of Music Education degree is restricted to students seeking teacher certification in vocal-choral or instrumental music at the K-12 level. Students must meet all requirements for certification before this degree will be conferred, including passing the following: 1) all sections of the Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA); 2) the Professional Development Folio (semester prior to student teaching); 3) Missouri Content Assessment (MoCA) 043 – Music: Instrumental & Vocal Certification; and 4) a passing composite score on their summative evaluation in the Missouri Educator Evaluation System (MEES).

§ For transfer credit to be equated to this course the transfer course must have been completed within seven (7) years prior to initial registration at Missouri Baptist University. Former MBU students who are readmitting into the University must also have completed BCIS 103 , EDUC 373 , or an equivalent course within seven (7) years prior to the first semester of returning registration.

BACHELOR OF MUSIC EDUCATION
Bachelor of Music Education
(In addition to General Education, Bachelor of Music Education degree, and Music Major Core Requirements)
Mission Statement: In accordance with the mission statement of Missouri Baptist University, the academic program, and the music discipline, this degree program focuses on preparing students for careers in Music Education leading to certification by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (K-12).
All candidates for Missouri State Teacher Certification must be formally admitted into the Missouri Baptist University Teacher Education program in the School of Education. No student will be allowed to student teach unless he or she has been formally admitted into the Teacher Education program prior to applying to student teach.
The Bachelor of Music Education degree is restricted to students seeking teacher certification in vocal and/or instrumental music at the K-12 level. Students must meet all requirements for certification before this degree will be conferred, including passing the following: 1) all sections of the Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA); 2) the Professional Development Folio (semester prior to student teaching); 3) the Missouri Content Assessment(s) (MoCA) for each area of certification sought; 4) and the Missouri Pre-Service Teacher Assessment (MoPTA) (completed during student teaching).
The student must take one of the following performance concentrations:

Bachelor of Arts in Music

Mission Statement: In accordance with the mission statement of Missouri Baptist University, the academic program, and the music discipline, this major provides for those interested in the music field as part of a liberal arts program.
Bachelor of Arts in Music majors must take a general education course introducing an art form other than music, such as, art, dance, and theatre/drama, as part of their general education requirements.
Concentrations – The student must complete one of the following concentrations.
All persons majoring in any music field must complete the following core:
