Clinical Mental Health Counseling, MA

This program is CACREP accredited.

Students pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling complete 48 counseling core credits plus an additional 12 credits for licensure (LPC) eligibility.

Students pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling may only earn two C grades in their program and must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

All students admitted to the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program must complete two mandatory, in-person residency intensives as a core graduation requirement to align with CACREP standards. These experiences will include intensive practice, faculty observation, and disposition assessment. Completion of both residencies is required to advance in the program.

Required Mental Health Core


All students, regardless of degree program, are required to complete a 48-hour professional counseling core. Students seeking licensure as an LPC and/or certification as an elementary and secondary school counselor will complete additional requirements as detailed below.​
