The Standard-Entry Pathway for the Ed.D. in LTL is for students entering with a master’s degree. These students complete 24 credit hours of preparatory coursework—18 credit hours of core courses and 6 credit hours of electives—prior to joining the cohort model. After completing the preparatory coursework, students in the Standard-Entry Pathway join the cohort model alongside students in the Advanced-Entry Pathway to complete the remaining 24 credit hours required for the Ed.D.
Coursework Sequence and Doctoral Cohort Entry
Students enrolled in the Ed.D. Standard-Entry Pathway will complete their 600-level coursework using the published 8-week term-based course rotation. Students are limited to one (1) 600-level course per academic term and may not take multiple 600-level courses concurrently. In rare circumstances, students may be approved to enroll in two 600-level courses in a single term with prior written approval from the program director.
Students must complete all required 600-level courses prior to entering the 700-level courses. Entry into 700-level coursework typically occurs at two designated start points each academic year:
- FAQ: 12-week Fall Quarter cohort
- SPQ: 12-week Spring Quarter cohort
Because the 600-level courses operate on a 8-week/semester-based calendar and 700-level courses operate on a quarter-based calendar, students may not alternate between semester-based and quarter-based schedules. Therefore, exceptions to early cohort entry are not permitted. Students who complete their 600-level coursework between cohort start dates will enter the next available FAQ or SPQ 700-level doctoral cohort and may experience a brief gap between course completion and cohort entry. This sequencing ensures academic continuity, protects financial aid and billing structures, and maintains program integrity.
