School of Management & Marketing



Mission Statement

The School of Management & Marketing programs prepare students to explore and develop competencies to meet future business challenges and opportunities in a biblical, Christ-centered context. Being a student in the School of Management & Marketing means learning vital skills for the real-world marketplace, understanding the foundational practices, and learning about current technologies. A School of Management & Marketing student experiences real-world research and real-world projects.

Applied Management: In accordance with the mission of Missouri Baptist University and the School of Management & Marketing, the Applied Management program provides a flexible curriculum. The curriculum is taught by faculty with real-world experience who share their faith-based knowledge and insights.

Fitness Management: The mission of the Fitness Management undergraduate program is to better understand the biological, physiological, and behavioral aspects of exercise that are relevant to the health industry and to develop and apply communication, entrepreneurship, management, and marketing skills as they pertain to the fitness industry.

Healthcare Management: In accordance with the mission of Missouri Baptist University and the School of Management & Marketing, the Healthcare Management program provides curriculum in management principles and concepts applicable in healthcare and healthcare industry environments. The curriculum is tied to industry expectations coupled with instruction from faculty with real-world experience who share their evangelical Christian-based knowledge and insights. 

Management: In accordance with the mission of Missouri Baptist University and the School of Management & Marketing, the Management program provides a broad-based curriculum preparing students for professional careers in management. MBU prepares students to become successful managers through curriculum tied to industry expectations coupled with real-world experience who share their faith-based knowledge and insights. The instruction faculty provides enables students to shine bright and make a positive impact on their world. 

Marketing: In accordance with the mission of Missouri Baptist University and the School of Management & Marketing, the marketing program prepares students to explore and develop marketing competencies to meet future business challenges and opportunities in a biblical, Christ-centered context. Being a marketing student at MBU means learning vital skills for the real-world marketplace, understanding the foundations of marketing practice and learning about current technologies. A marketing student experiences real-world research and real-world projects.

Organizational Leadership: In accordance with the mission of Missouri Baptist University and the School of Management & Marketing, the organizational leadership program prepares students in management and leadership knowledge and skills to meet future business challenges from a Biblically-based Christian perspective. The curriculum is taught by faculty with real-world experience who share their faith-based knowledge and insights. Through a broad-based curriculum tied to industry expectations, students are prepared for professional careers. 

Sport Management: The Sport Management program at Missouri Baptist University is designed to prepare students for various careers in Sport Management and graduate study in the field. Students in this program investigate the psycho-social, ethical, economic, legal, and political factors affecting the management and administration of sport organizations. Through the practical application of the programs theoretical underpinnings, sport management majors learn about communication, finance, law, organizational management, personnel, and marketing from a Christian worldview.

Certificate in Healthcare Management

A total of 30 semester hours is required to earn the Healthcare Management Certificate. Transfer credit will be accepted into this certificate program from an accredited college or school up to a maximum of 20 hours, up to 9 hours of which may be earned through credit by examination and/or portfolio assessment of prior learning. Portfolio credit is only available to those students who have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours in residency at Missouri Baptist University. Students must complete a minimum of 10 semester hours in residency at Missouri Baptist University to earn the Healthcare Management Certificate.

A student must earn a grade of C or better in all courses taken to meet the Thirty-Hour Healthcare Management Certificate requirements. The student must have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or better for the awarding of the Healthcare Management certificate.

Certificate in Management

A total of 30 semester hours is required to earn the Management Certificate. Transfer credit will be accepted into this certificate program from an accredited college or school up to a maximum of 20 hours, up to 9 hours of which may be earned through credit by examination and/or portfolio assessment of prior learning. Certificate in Organizational Leadership

A total of 30 semester hours is required to earn the Organizational Leadership Certificate. Transfer credit will be accepted into this certificate program from an accredited college or school up to a maximum of 20 hours, up to 9 hours of which may be earned through credit by examination and/or portfolio assessment of prior learning. Portfolio credit is only available to those students who have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours in residency at Missouri Baptist University. Students must complete a minimum of 10 semester hours in residency at Missouri Baptist University to earn the Organizational Leadership Certificate. 

A student must earn a grade of C or better in all courses taken to meet the Thirty-Hour Organizational Leadership Certificate requirements. The student must have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or better for the awarding of the Organizational Leadership Certificate.

Specific Major Requirements

Sport Management: Students wishing to be admitted into the Sport Management major will be allowed to present a written request for acceptance to the Associate Dean of the School of Management & Marketing after at least one full semester of study at MBU if the cumulative 2.5 GPA requirement has been met.
