SOCW 5103 - Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare Semester Hours: Three This course provides students with an overview of the history, philosophy and values of social welfare and social work. Students are introduced to social work values and ethics, fields of practice with systems of all sizes, and the role of policy in service delivery. Service delivery systems, practice settings, career opportunities, professional organizations, and current issues within the profession of social work are also examined. Prerequisites: None
