CHEM 312 - Organic Chemistry I Laboratory Term Offered: Fall Students will learn basic laboratory techniques for purifying and identifying organic compounds. The topics covered will be thin layer chromatography, gas chromatography, extraction, recrystallization, simple and fractional distillation, melting points, boiling points, infrared spectroscopy, and polarimetry. Note: This lab may be taken for credit apart from CHEM 313 only with the written consent of the instructor and the student’s advisor. Semester Hours: Two
