MATH 273 - Probability and Statistical Methods Term Offered: Spring This course includes descriptive and inferential statistics, data summarization methods, probability theory, random variables, discrete and continuous probability distributions, sampling theory, confidence intervals, tests of hypotheses, non-parametric hypothesis testing, bivariate and partial correlation analysis, simple and multiple linear regression, and regression diagnostics. Appropriate class time will be devoted to the use of statistical software. Students pursuing majors in Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Mathematics cannot earn credit for both MATH 243 and MATH 273 and cannot earn credit for both MATH 343 and MATH 273. This course may also be taken instead of MATH 243 to satisfy the Probability & Statistics degree requirement for any major. Semester Hours: Three
