HIST 113 - Western Civilization I Semester Hours: Three A survey of the history of the Western world, particularly Europe, from its origins in Egypt and Southwest Asia to about 1660. The course covers classical Egypt, the Ancient Near East, the Biblical Hebrews, classical Greece, Hellenism, the Roman Republic and Empire, the rise of Christianity, the Byzantine Empire, the three stages of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Reformations, and early-modern Europe.
