This is a program of study leading to certification to teach marketing education at the high school level. Candidates must pursue a combined certification program with Business Education and Secondary Education. Courses indicated with an asterisk (*) below are also required for Business Education. In addition, one of the MRKT courses without an asterisk may be applied as the elective required for Business Education, so students only need an additional 15 credit hours for the combined Business Education and Marketing Education programs.

Undergraduate candidates seeking to teach at the secondary level (grades 9-12) must have a primary major in Business Education. A program combining middle and secondary Business Education is also available for those interested in certification in grades 5-12.  Candidates may also opt for a combined certification program in Business Education and Marketing Education (grades 9-12).

Applicable degrees: Bachelor of Science preferred (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Professional Studies options available)

Students must meet all requirements for certification before this degree will be conferred, including passing the following: 1) passing score on MoGEA for admission to the Teacher Education Program; 2) passing score on Missouri Content Assessments (017) Business and (022) Marketing for certification and graduation; 3) passing composite score on the MEES summative evaluation for certification and graduation; 4) passing Professional Development Folio for graduation.

Students who transfer in a course for EDRD 423/523  which does not include an equivalent field experience must complete: EDCL 420/520 Field Experience with English Language Learners

*Candidates pursuing secondary/middle combined certification must complete EDCL 411/511 Teaching Field Experience II  in a middle school setting.
