Music Major Core
All persons majoring in any music field must complete the following core:
Required Music Theory (MUTH) Courses
Note(s)
* Students who pass the theory placement test are not required to take this course.
† Education students must complete Content Area courses with a grade of C or better (or CR)
REQUIRED MUSIC HISTORY AND LITERATURE (MUHL) COURSES
REQUIRED MUSIC EDUCATION (MUED) COURSE
REQUIRED MUSIC RECITAL ATTENDANCE (MURA) COURSES
8 semesters of credit required (7 semesters for Music Education):
THEATRE FORUM COURSE
Students are required to complete 8 semesters of Theatre Forum.
Concentration
The student must take the following performance concentration.

***Advanced piano students may take proficiency exam for up to four semesters of credit. Piano credit may be Class Piano, Private Piano, or a combination of both.
****The student may take courses listed as Small Ensemble to complete this requirement. MUST 131/331 Musical Theatre Production is recommended.
*****The student must take three semesters of upper division private lessons before their senior recital.

- At least six hours of major and three hours of minor must be earned at Missouri Baptist University
- A grade of D is not acceptable in courses taken to fulfill the requirements for a major or minor
- If a substitution has been made, attach a copy of the signed approval and indicate the course number and title following the catalog requirement. Please include the date of the substitution.
Requirements for degree conferral:

Cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale (those seeking certification must achieve a GPA of 2.75)
