Criminal Justice Major Requirements
Students must complete the following 36 hours of core requirements, and 6 hours of selected electives to total 42 hours.
Track I
For students who have not attended a POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certified Police Academy.
Electives
6 hours upper division from other Criminal Justice (CRJS, CRCO, CRPO, or CRPS) courses
Track II
For students who have attained 700 plus hours of training and graduated from a POST certified Police Academy and who are certified as police officers.

Major Courses
For students who have graduated and attained 700 plus hours of training from a POST certified Police Academy and are certified as police officers, credit toward the major may be accepted as follows:
TOTAL TRANSFER CREDIT ACCEPTED: 16 HOURS

Online Criminal Justice Program (See the Adult Learning Program section of this catalog)
Note(s)
* Documented training and/or credit for prior learning may also be considered to determine the award of advanced credit hours. The awards will be granted only after a student has completed 6 hours of coursework at Missouri Baptist University, 3 of which must be within Criminal Justice. Review the “Advanced Standing Process” noted in the current catalog to petition for prior learning credit.
POST Certified Law Enforcement Academy training less than 700 hours will be reviewed on a case- by- case basis.
Note(s)
- At least six hours of major and three hours of minor must be earned at Missouri Baptist University
- A grade of D is not acceptable in courses taken to fulfill the requirements for a major or minor
- If a substitution has been made, attach a copy of the signed approval and indicate the course number and title following the catalog requirement. Please include the date of the substitution.
Requirements for degree conferral:

At least 24 of the last 32 hours taken at Missouri Baptist University

Cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale (those seeking certification must achieve a GPA of 2.75)

At least 42 hours of Upper Division (54 for a dual degree)

At least 120 total credit hours (144 for a dual degree)
