Major Requirements


This degree is recommended for students planning to pursue careers requiring a background in the biological sciences. The B.A. in Biology program includes required biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics coursework, as well as the declaration of a minor. The minor should be selected so that the student gains the relevant and necessary academic foundation in pursuit of their desired career.

Major Electives


Any course in Biology (BIOL) or Biotechnology (BIOT).1 At least 12 hours must be upper division. Courses subject to approval 2

Minor and General Electives


To complete the B.A. in Biology, a minor must be declared and completed. All courses used to satisfy the minor requirements must be completed with a minimum grade of C.

1 Hours used to fulfill major elective credits may not be used to fulfill other requirements.

2 Students wishing to use courses not listed to fulfill elective hours for the concentration will need to petition the advisor, program director, and division chair for approval.

3 Depending on the minor selected, courses from any division may be needed to ensure satisfaction of the 128-hour and the 45-hour upper-division graduation requirements.

4 Recommendation for minors include, but are not limited to: Plant Biology, Psychology, Public Health, Business Administration, Communication Studies, Healthcare Management, Exercise Science.
