HCMG 403 - Healthcare and Public Policy Semester Hours: Three This course will look at the policy and politics central to healthcare’s most pressing and governed issues: access, cost and quality. The roles of patients, physicians, hospitals, insurers, and pharmaceutical companies will be established. The interaction between the government and these different groups will also be covered as well as the important issues that cut across institutions, including private insurers and the federal/state financing programs (Medicare and Medicaid/SCHIP). The governance and policies of at least two [foreign] comparative health systems will be introduced. Term Offered: Fall, Spring
