ENGL 453A - Editing and Publishing Practicum Term Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer The process of editing and publishing involves proofreading, editing, design and typesetting, working with vendors, printing, marketing, and publicity. In this course, students will acquire hands-on knowledge and skills through involvement in real-world publishing projects. As part of the course requirements, students will serve on the editorial staff for one of the Missouri Baptist University periodicals, such as MBU Magazine, Intégrité, Faith and Research Conference Proceedings, Cantos, Fireflies’ Light, The Right Words, and FLASH! Other course requirements include regular meetings with the instructor, a weekly log, and a 10-page reflective analysis. In addition, the instructor’s assessment of the student will constitute part of the final grade. Semester Hours: Three
Prerequisite(s): ENGL 123 , ENGL 203 , or consent of instructor.
